I have been eating sensible, I have cut back on bread, no alcohol plenty of fruit and veg, walk a good couple of miles or more a day, weighed myself this morning and I haven't budged since, this time last week, after my walk today I thought I would check my weight on same scales in same position just incase I read it wrong, and it now seems Ive put 2lbs on since this morning, so disappointed, surely you can't put on 2lbs in a matter of hours.
Scales are new jno I know that doesn't mean much oh has weighed himself on them as well and he's the same as he usually is so cant see that being the problem, Tilly no more than usual maybe a bit more water because of the heat
might be worth weighning a brick on them every day to check, but I wouldn't have thought you could put on 2lb unless you ingested 2lb of food or fluid.
Following on from Jno's idea, a couple of 2 litre plastic milk containers would weigh 4 kg exactly when filled with water. That would show how accurate the scales were.
Having a blonde moment here...OH did suggest I had weighed myself naked this morning, which I did and I was clothed this afternoon...oooops...still doesn't explain why I haven't lost anything in a week though
Try an weigh yourself at the same time every day.
Also go to Boots and use their (pay for) scales. It will give you a very accurate answer and you can compare it with your own set of scales.
As JK says - you need to weigh yourself exactly the same time every day. Morning time is good as this is when you are at your lightest - before you eat or drink a thing.
I, like you, have been very good for the past 3 days and I have lost 2lbs - weighed myself this morning. I know and know that you should only weigh yourself every week but I did feel just that little bit different ie not so bloated.
Maybe you are a little swelled up with this heat. I am with you FS I have to lose weight for a wedding in Sept and have already bought my clothes for it so need to buckle down.
Was drinking too much beer and have kissed it goodbye for the time being that is. JjCon
it's a long term change you are aiming for
your body will readjust to your changed habits - stick with it
don't overdo the fruit - it is full of sugar, that's why it tastes nice
walking is great for long term fitness but it won't burn off much in the short term
don't just 'cut back' bread, even a small amount affects how your body absorbs other foods - try a week Carb Free and see what happens
Thanks guys for your comments, I'm not a great fan of fruit, Zeuhl, but have been doing well by having rasberrys with my porridge in the morning, and plums and peaches not keen on apple but I have a few slices during the day, will definitely try the no carbs for a week and see if there is an improvement
Remember that many fruits are high in sugar...which of course is what carbs convert to. Berries are your safest bet. Also, due to the hot weather, your body may be retaining more fluid, and its perfectly normal for weight to fluctuate in the course of a day. Your gain is not fat. I eat pretty low carb, but had several brownies yesterday...weight was up by 1.25lb...hopefully gone tomorrow...;-)
Use www.myfitnesspal.com If you fill it in accurately every day you can see clearly how much you are eating. You may be surprised that you are eating more than you thought. Also hormones play a big part- I would weigh yourself only every month if you can bear to, and go more by how you feel. Measure yourself too, and fill that in every month. Other than that, stick to My Fitness Pal.
