Passwording Files On Windows XP?

Hi guys,

Could someone tell me if there is a way you can password files and folders on your computer (which are shown on desktop and are also accessable through "start" ect) I thought there was a way to do it, but I can't seem to find it....could someone help me out or point me in the right direction?

with xp pro you can encrypt files but that can be lengthy process. best bet might be Folder Lock..have a look here http://www.newsoftwares.net/folderlock/

forgot to say that if your files are part of Microsoft office you can password them anyway

If other people use your machine, I would suggest creating profiles or user accounts just for them. Once done, make sure you have admin rights and they are just guest users (stops 'em installing stuff). Move you personal files to a new directory somewhere (My Documents is good). You can use the acdcount manager to stop your files being accessible to other users and further to this you can set security parameters on your new directory to limit to you only for extra security.
