"cheap" and "croydon" are not usually words that are associated with one another.

Try www.innkeeperslodge.com for a travel lodge type room. There's one on the Brighton Road in South Croydon and another opposite Eden Park Station, near Elmers End, which they call 'Beckenham'. Also, there's www.premiertravelinn.com. They have one at Coombe Lodge near a tramlink stop and another one down near Croydon Airport (not tried this one). The first three we have stayed in. Good, clean basic accommodation. Shower, towels, tv, kettle etc, but not somewhere you would want to stay more than a couple of days!
