So, The New Doctor......

What do we make of him? I'm only a couple of minutes in(young Chill is mesmerised) but as an avid fan of The Thick Of It it is going to take forever for me to disassociate Capaldi from Malcolm Tucker and indeed, may be impossible.
As he opened the door of the TARDIS I almost expected him to say to Strax "Right you, f$%* off you over-tanned penis".

Your thoughts/observations?

I've seen Doctor Who on and off since day 1 back in 63.

The best, David Tennant with out a shadow of a doubt.

I think the "best" is very relevant to the age your imagination let you think bigger than poop/eat/sleep/play.

For me the end of John Pertwee into Tom Baker and on was the best time, Tom Baker for me is the best Doctor of them all. DT and Eccleston were very very good but so was Peter Davidson Colin baker was okay, McCoy dreadful. he was the death knell. Matt Smith was too odd, too quirky and couldn't "get" his Doctor.

Now I'm a huge fan of Peter Capaldi and I think he'll grow into the role as it progresses, DT wasn't wonderful from Ep1. Can't wait to see it!!!

He's an actor, if you can't separate him from a previous role that he has played then that is your problem. When you see a well-known actor in a new film do you only think of him/her in terms of the previous roles that they have played? Mind you, there are some actors (e.g. Robert De Niro, Al Pacino) who eventually resort to taking film roles that are caricatures of themselves from their most well-known roles.

I thought he did brilliantly, was a bit concerned it would be a Malcolm Tucker re- run, but not at all.

We were sick! Staying at sons house dog sitting, so recorded DrWho.as had a meal booked at local pub, hurried home all agog, to find it hadn't recorded!!! So will have to wait till we get home tomorrow to go back to it! Hope we aren't disappointed,as we loved David Tennant and Chris before him.

The best Dr Who for me was David Tennant and the best episode was when he went back in time and met William Shakespeare, "The Shakespeare Code". Some of the one liners were brilliant. I watch it every now and then on DVD.

I loved it. Won't give anything away, but I think Peter Capaldi is brilliant as the new Doctor.

Some very funny one liners too!

I never really warmed to Matt Smith, but I think that was because David Tennant was fantastic that it was a hard act to follow (IMO).

Looking forward to the rest of the series.
