I suggest that there is a congruency between the broad sweep of Bible prophecy, and the current world events, particularly in the Middle East

You couls easily add Nostradamus into that equation in the OP - those who interpret what he said, say he could see all this coming. Nothing Biblical about it.

The prophecies also fit nicely with the Crusades almost 1000 years ago and lasting 200 years or so. Or with any of the periods from 1200 ad to now whenever there has been troubles in the middle east.

Thanks Graham. Having had a quick look I can't help thinking that much of that could apply to most periods in history.
