I bought a great looking red Maxda MX5 6 months ago.
It is 20 years old and has just passed an MOT.
However a leak has appeared at roof/door and water is dripping onto the footwell
carpet.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem or should I just sell it on ?

Check the GAP between the door top & the roof, then check the other side of the car! do they match? if so it maybe just seal. make sure the seal is sitting within the body properly.

Is it a Soft-top or a clip-on hard-top?

Thanks TWR and Baldric (it is a soft top) ...J/Boy
The cover may be warped, Twisted, Get some help from someone, sit in the car & ask them to use a hose pipe all over the roof area, this will pin point the exact area, It may be that the cover is Porous Jaims.
Have a look on the internet for Mazda forums as I think this is a common problem with older MX5 models. My inlaws have one and they can't go out in the rain because it fills with water - it always was designed as a summer fun skateboard wasn't it?
this is fixable, the tricky bit is to find the leak, fortunately I have a top tip. Hire a smoke machine and put the roof up and the windows up and put the machine in the car then you will see where the smoke comes out, then you can target your repair there.
