Everywhere I go at the moment I am coming across gorgeous looking plump, fresh figs.

I had one sliced on a pizza the other evening and tomorrow I will stuff some with cheese and wrap in prosciutto before baking.

If you have never had a fresh fig do buy one and tuck in over the next few weeks, they really are lovely and worth a try.

Kloof, the local supermarket and farm shop has had awesome figs all week!

Not a dinner party, just happen to have some blue cheese and prosciutto in the fridge and keep spotting fat figs on sale :-)
Not seen any round here, which supermarkets are there around your way?
I'm the same, savoury always hits the spot. Although himself does make delicious lemon and poppyseed cupcakes, and I do love lemony things. His Christmas cake isn't bad either.
That dobos torte would have driven me crackers, all that fiddling and fussing..

Kloof, if you have a Waitrose check them out for the figs....but I'm sure all the big supermarkets are going to have them in stock.

All my sweet stuff I am happy to send off to grateful recipients!
I love figs raw or cooked. Figs with parma ham, mozzarella, fresh basil and balsamic dressing....yummmy

I've never even tried figs and doubt I ever will after seeing Women in Love many years ago. ! That D.H. Lawrence was a very naughty boy.
Try them Jan.

Make a cross in the top, give it a little squeeze and drizzle some honey in it and bake in the oven....lovely.
i love figs, i was eating them yesterday, just cut into segments with dolcelatte smeared over them
I brought 4 figs for a £1 from Asda on sunday. the were tasted so good, just cut up and scoffed no messing!
I love the look of figs, I love the idea of figs, but every time I've eaten them they have no taste. My last effort was on some beautiful fat ones from M&S that I baked with a little butter and honey, then served with a drizzle of rose syrup and some creme fraiche. The were dreadful. I do like their sweet and chewy texture in puddings when they are dried though.

I can find no reference to figs in Lawrence's book.
