MOH has just brought home 2 lovely pink Hydrangeas. she wants me to put them into larger pots. the plastic pots they are currently in, are about 8 inches across and 6 inches deep. We do have 2 spare larger concrete type pots about 15 inches across and 12 inches deep. My question is what planting material/compost/soil should I use in the pots and should I move them now or, wait until the spring?

I think the ideal time to re -pot them is in the Autumn. Those pots you have should be fine and will allow you to put some broken crocks in the bottom to assist drainage. If you use an ericasious compost it will turn the flowers a stunning blue color. They like a position thats sunny in the morning and shady in the afternoon.
