What kind of charities are NOT funded ie do really need donations.

I thought Air Ambulances would have been included in NHS. That interests me.

Also what about Dog's Trust.
Boxy, Most educational establishments are entitled to register with Charity Commission. Eton College fits thus. Eton offers 300+ bursarys to gifted boys each year.

Each branch of Samaritans stands alone. As an organisation we receive no Government funding. The Dundee branch has to raise approx £45,000 per annum to keep operating so goodness knows how much some large branches have to raise.

Over the years I've had the honour of meeting a lot of lifeboatmen and most of them prefer things as they,are being paid for by donations and ran by people who know what they need and how to get it,not some faceless person in Whitehall who is wrapped up in red tape and hasn't a clue about conditions these guys and gals operate under or what they need to do the job.

the problem RNLI have is that they receive millions in legacies that are designated to buy boats they don't need, while they struggle to find their day to day running expenses
