I have a ten year old Worcester 24CDI combi boiler and my problem is that I cannot get hot water from it unless I turn on the central heating as well. I have got a plumber coming round to see it and give me a quote, but he's not able to visit until next week - which does not bother me - we have been without hot water for several weeks, so a few more days isn't really a worry.
I just hoped that someone on ABcould suggest what it might be, and give me an idea of what it might cost to repair. I spoke to a friend a few weeks ago and he suggested that it might be the diverter valve, is this likely? Thanks for (sensible) suggestions.
My Daughter had exactly the same. When the plumber came round he was speaking to the landlord and said the part he need was about £15 and the landlord told him to go ahead with it.... It was great having hot water without the heating making the house like a sauna. Sorry I can be more help islasmum. Hope you get some it sorted and some idea of cost from Abers before the plumber comes.
Oops. Just saw the last two lines of your post. My plumber told me that he wouldn`t be able to do the job as well as Vaillant and suggested I contact them. So I did and they had two sort of service plans to fix the problem. One was a boiler check and repair (excluding the condenser) and the other plan included the condenser. I went for the one without the condenser because I was pretty sure that it was the diverter valve that had gone. I can`t remember what I paid - a couple of hundred pound I think but that was for the full works. Anyway, when the guy came her was here for ages and said that he had ended up putting at least £500 worth of parts in the boiler. So my gamgle paid off and I got a bargain. I doubt Vaillant were too pleased though.
