Broken oven

My fan assisted oven gets so hot (the heater element glows red hot) any ideas on whats broken.

The thermostat I would guess, which is a device which detects when the desired heat has been reached and then turns the oven down. This cycle repeats while the temprature is at the required level.
This may be totally wrong and if so I apologise. I have a fan oven and I can't see the the heating element - it is hidden behind the fan. What I can see is the grill element and it remains cold when the oven is on. Do you have fauly controls which put the grill on when you think the oven is on?
Hi there, I am a domestic appliance engineer. Is your fan going round? If not then it sounds like it could be the fan that's the problem. If your fan is going round then it sounds like your thermostat has gone. Hope this helps you. clarelouise.
