our computer is a packard bell we have a mouse that lights up and a webcam with lights on the problem is that when i turn of the computer they stay on any ideas?

Are you web cam and mouse wireless? If so it would be the battery power source, same with my mouse here.

the webcam and mouse are not wirless

They are probably just taking power from the USB port/s which remain powered if the PC is still mains connected even though it is switched off.


Not doing any harm, but you'll have to isolate the mains if you want them off.

"Isolate the mains" = turns it off at the plug.

very often the computers power supply will still use electricity even whist the computer is powered down.


If your worried about wasting electricity, or just dont want the lights on. buy a surge protection extention cord with a switch on the end and leave it accesibble. So when you turn your computer off you can 'isolate the mains' without stretching for the plug socket every time.
