Omg Halloween Is On A Friday, October 31!

I know many people think it's an "American thing" or keep away from it due to it's occult/satanism connections but for many of us it's a reason to dress up and go out so there will be plenty of partying and clubbing happening in my world as I'm a little too old for trick or treating :)

Do you have anything planned?

Oh and those who prefer to sit in the darkness and turn off the lights to avoid the little trick or treaters would get much more fun by jumping out of the darkness wearing a mask and frightening the kids :)

Hen...I always do something at home and invite the trick or treaters in...it's great fun and I love the effort they put into costumes.....

This year I've had an invite to a cousin's 50th......the invite said....and we suppose you'll be coming on your broomstick...I think they love me...maybe....☻

It's Samahain, so a celebration, recalling people no longer with us and joining with friends, then a a big celebration afterwards.

We wont be getting any callers to our house, they would scared off just walking up the long dark drive. Then when they knock they would hear the hounds baying, sounding like some huge mystical beast from hell! I dont think we would get the chance to open the door before they ran for their lives lol!!

Normally, all my children and grandchildren come round for a big tea, and then they go trick-or-treating.

It's quite a big deal where we live, so we expect more than a dozen callers through the evening, and have a massive bucket of sweets to give out.

This year, my wife is away, all the children are away, so i am on my own.

The local cinema is showing back-to-back Director's Cuts of Alien and Aliens, so I plan to be down there.

Kv mentioned Samhain, the Gaelic festival. It's Allantide in Cornwall as well.
Named after a minor Cornish Saint. It's been said that there are more Saints than people in Cornwall ;o)

Much the same as most of the old Cornish "celebrations" that I remember.

Halloween isn't American. It's Scottish and trick or treat is Irish. It was taken to the USA by immigrants and took off in a big way there.

Jan don't they call trick or treating " guising " in Scotland ? Someone said it to me in Asda Edinburgh last year and I didn't have a clue what they were talking about

Always buy loads of sweets and enjoy opening the door to little kids all dressed up and pretending that they're scaring me - they love it !
