Hello Abers

I bought a bottle of Camp coffee which I remember seeing 35 years ago but never had it.
I made a milky coffee with it, which was nice and want to try and use it for other things.................does anyone still use this and how do you use yours

I don't use it but a neighbour always uses Camp when she is making a Coffee & Walnut cake.

Actually, I have used back when I was a student at we made our own Baileys time drink.

I remember Camp coffee. Don't use it now but I have a frend who just LOVES it and won't drink any other coffee

the chicory part of it did put me off but you can't really taste it.

I believe that during the war when nylons were in short supply ladies used to use it to paint seams on their legs to simulate stockings.

Yes, I think it might be quite ok for cooking or to make coffee ice cream (my favourite)

What a blast from the past. When I lived at home with mum and dad, Camp coffee was a real treat, usually only bought at Christmas.

Blackie, they also used to use old tea to stain their legs to make them look "tanned". I'm sure it looked passable until it rained !

It was always Camp Coffee before 'Instant' came on the scene.

Maggie, yes.. along with "eat me" dates. ALWAYS bought at Christmas time.

my Mum used gravy browning to paint her legs as it was cheaper and more available than camp coffee which was quite posh then. You could also get leg makeup which was less likely to run in the rain.

Ah yes Camp coffee, brought back memories, we as kids thought it was so sophisticated, but made with hot milk ovcourse.

I used to hate Camp coffee, one person I worked for ran the English Chicory factory. There was always Camp in his house.

there are quite a few recipes and ideas out there - I may try some
At the moment i'm enjoying the coffee with milk only and tried it with hot water and a dash of milk, I want to try it with cold milk next.

And readers may recall that Camp coffee was at the centre of a racism row a few years ago and were forced to change their label. The original showed a seated Gordon Highlander being served his coffee by a Sikh waiter. That was changed some time ago and the tray carried by the waiter disappeared (though he was still standing whilst the Highlander was seated). Finally the label was changed to show both the Sikh and the Highlander seated side by side, both enjoying their Camp coffee:
