Putting Pc To Sleep

Hi
My PC , W7 Home premium, has a small problem. I used to be able to put it to sleep by clicking on the start button, shut down and then sleep. However, if I click on the sleep button now, the PC shuts down completely. Any ideas anybody ? Not rewally major, just annoying.

Start ..... control panel .............. Power options

...to see if anything's been messed up :o)

Apologies for the delay in replying. Tried what you suggested but there seems to be a problem with the whole "shut down" process. Even if I click on Log Off the PC then reboots !! The only button that seems to work correctly is Shut Down, so I'll just have to stick with that for the time being.

Problem solved !! When I used to put my PC in sleep mode, the "Blue" on light would turn to orange - it would seem that the orange light has decided not to work, hence I thought the PC had turned itself off.
