Absolutely loving the new series with my all time favourite Marcus Wareing. Anyway my question is - do these professionals not risk their reputation by going on this programme and showing sometimes major weaknesses and getting kicked out early? How do they go back to their jobs as headchefs? I'm cringing because the woman that's just been let go first tonight is from a restaurant I've eaten at many times and is about 3 miles from where I live. She must be so embarrassed - or not?
Food missing off plates because they ran out of time (on so called Signature Dishes they should be able to produce with their eyes closed) and poor presentation are unforgivable at 'Head Chef' level. They should all have been thrown out really. And as for the Pastry Chef who can't do pastry... string him up and sauté his testicles :-)
Marcus is far too smiley and pleasant... not his usual character at all. I reckon he's been told to cheer up but frankly he's coming across as a bit psychotic.
Well it's 1/106 on tripadvisor for restaurants in the area (but I think that's helped by its chocolate box thatched cottage village location). Not really masterchef level but that's just my opinion.
Yes I reckon Marcus has been told to be more personable but he's bound to blow at some point.

He's a perfectionist, a bit robotic but not a diva.
Agree snags, no excuse for that level not to be able to get things on a plate at the right time, as I said these are head chefs most of them.
I was shocked by the level of some of them. Most of them boast of having worked in the top places, well if I had paid good money to dine in one of those places I would expect the chef to have a little more knowledge.
