Pc World Rant
38 Answers
bought a printer today from pc world - told two members of staff I am a techno phobe and would they please be certain to give me correct instructions. Both assured me I needed a USB cable to enable the printer to connect to my computer so I bought one - and extra £10 over and above the purchase price. When I opened the box at home there is one included in the package and now they are saying that to get a refund I have to drive back to the store to do this. It's a hell of a long way, almost and hour each way - doesn't seem right to me.

I have never found PCW staff to be helpful to idiots like myself. The assistants all seem to be about 12, have raging acne and bad attitude and I can see their eyes glaze over when I appear . "Oh no, not another oldie" (i.e. anyone over 25 in their opinion). Nowadays there seems to be little or no choice. It's ether PCW or..... no, it's only PCW .
A few years back I went into PC world looking to buy all the components to build a Hi spec PC I had over£1000 to spend on it, 3 times I asked for assistance, after being told to wait 3 times and 30 minutes later, I left the store, but not without telling the manager what I thought of his sales team!! I then realised that PC was probably about the last place to buy these parts anyway!. We learn lol.
about 6 or 7 years ago I went into pcw to get a scsi cable (to connect an old scanner to a desktop). The sales assistant didn't know what I was talking about and when I explained what it was for and that it used to be the industry standard for parallel ports her eyes glazed over as she realised that she was talking to someone who must have escaped from the ark.
There is no list of contents on the box that I can see.
Now have rather an unsatisfactory result about this as a friend who is unable to drive at the moment has asked me to take her to the shop next door to PC World - completely unexpected and I feel it's very churlish not to just return the cable for a refund as I'm going there anyway. Seems sensible to me - however, I've been amazed at the advice I've had over this and didn't realise quite how many have had bad experiences with PCW - certainly opened my eyes. Thank you everyone for your interest and advice.
