I'm ready to scream with this fake American marketing ploy. It seems that most of Europe and the UK have also hopped on the band wagon. My favourite shopping places are sending me emails and telly adverts urging me to buy, buy, buy because it's Black Friday. Is anybody else fed up with being bombarded with this silly concept?

Just read this on Facebook:
Black Friday stemmed from slavery. It was the day after Thanksgiving when slave traders would sell slaves for a discount to assist plantation owners with more helpers for the upcoming winter (for cutting and stacking firewood, winterproofing ect) hence the name.
It is called black friday because Mauve Friday was already taken.

I read on Google it came about 10 years ago because the airports, highways etc were black with travellers returning home after being with families on Thanksgiving which is the biggest travelling time in the USA. Then the ad men grabbed on to the idea to have sales on that day before coming out with the Christmas stock.

is the DFS sale still on?
Mrs Zacs has taken it to extremes. A naked Afro carribean doing odd jobs around the house is a bit much. I blame Daniel Defoe.
