Put one swede/turnip in microwave.
Don't peel, prick, prod, wash...just as you find it.
Cook on high for 15 mins initially, depending on size, give it a squeeze to check if it's cooked.....it makes a whistling noise when cooking hence the title :)
Once pinged...cut the top off and scoop out the perfectly cooked swede/turnip.
No more slashing yourself with knives peeling and chopping !

I have to say I did this with some trepidation but hey it worked a treat...i'm impressed ...clearly easily pleased ;) !

How did it go Maydup ? Was it a result?
Will you never take your life in your hands again to peel and chop a turnip ? :)
It was lovely KM. Being a whopper it took a bit of time (about 18 minutes in the end) and was very hot to handle, but it was delish. Really flavoursome. Next time I will try a slightly smaller one and hope to hear it sing!
Tried this yesterday.....flipping brilliant!!!!! So much better than boiling...x

Lol excellent DTC!
Brilliant kylesmum! Thanks for the tip. I tried this today and got some of the best chappit neeps I've ever had. No peeling and chopping too!
I should warn folk, I have just tried this, and as suspected, it does explode. I thought I'd heard a bang about 5 minutes in, but on looking through the door/window all seemed well. But after 15 minutes I opened the door to find a mess in the corner that I needed to clean up. Not a massive amount, the swede was still whole, but some had obviously managed it.
