I currently have 2Mb/s ADSL, but want to change ISP. All ISPs I try say I can only get 512Kb/s because of my distance from the exchange. This is obviously not true.
Are they all just using the same (incorrect) BT database, or are supanet some sort of gods for getting an impossible connection speed?
P.S. I don't believe the latter to be true

I have e-mailed a couple though and you'd think they would say something like this when you ask their customer service centre, but they just say "You can only get 512K". So #*&! them, I won't buy their product!
Have you tried actually talking to an alternative ISP ?
I am moving from Wanadoo to Eclipse and have found Eclipse customer services to be excellent thus far.Explain your problem to them and I think you'll find that they'll tell you when you switch that they speed test your line and gauge the maximum reliable speeds.Eclipse do a 1 month trial so if you are not happy just walk away.
Cheers guys, I'll try talking to some others - tried Tiscali, but it seems their customer service centre is in India and the guys weren't understanding the exact meaning of my questions. Ah Well. Their loss.
Only problem now is that supanet only appears to support the MAC scheme for customers going to them.
