i think its under the floor behind the drivers seat

I have a 99 scenic, you'll find the battery is under the driver's seat. You can access it by sliding the seat back and then turning the plastic screws either side on the rim at the floor level and lifting the cover off. There is an extension of the positive terminal in the engine compartment to use to get jump starts and the negative lead should attatch to the engine block by means of a metal loop on the upper left ( as you look at the engine). To give a jump start you have to get at the battery itself.
