but baz we need the EU, don't we? like an aperture in the cranium!
This is terrible news.

Now Amazon and Apple cannot undercut companies in the UK and avoid £millions in tax - and its that pesky EU's fault.

I realise you people have a pathological hatred of the EU, but please try and think this one through.
so they're insisting that things sold here be taxed at the rate set by the UK government instead of the lower rates set abroad?

Are you sure you aren't arguing against yourself here?

"so they're insisting "

theyre, thats the key word !

yet again they are telling us what to do...how hard is that to understand ?
They are not telling us what to do. They are telling foreign companies, most American multinationals what to do.

Companies based in the UK pay 20% tax.
American companies such as Amazon, Apple, Starbucks, base themselves in Luxemberg, and pay 3% tax and undercut British Companies. They take jobs that should be in the UK and they deprive the Exchequer of £millions.

Why should a book or a song I purchase from Amazon increase the coffers of the Luxemberg Exchequer?

The EU are levelling the playing field so that everyone pays the same tax and no country undermines another EU country.
they're insisting that companies trading in Britain do so according to British laws. Do you have a problem with this, or do you actually approve of foreign companies choosing which tax regimes they prefer so they can undercut UK business?

we have our own laws we do not need the eussr telling us how to enforce them.

its that word they're you lot dont seem to be able to understand...they're as in they are
