A couple of years ago I posted about this very problem http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Home-and-Garden/Question1221534.html - there is a suggestion or two there but I am now in the habit of giving that kettle a quick wash out every time, and that works for me.

Fill with a warm, weak solution of bi-carb and leave overnight.

Empty, rinse and boil a couple of kettle fulls before using for tea.

I've seen suggestions of boiling with a spoonfull of salt in the water - and then rinsing well - not tried that though.

Thank you, as I dont have any bi carb , I will try the salt method.
I had this last year with a new kettle in Spain, couldn't get rid of the taste of plastic so took back to the shop and they exchanged it, which is something they do not like doing here in Ibiza. result.
I would definitely use BiCarb.
