Just got back from a trip to Dublin were we stayed in a lovely hotel called Beckett's, the walls were plastered with Sandy Roe's face.

Very surreal, never knew who Sandy's (old) avatar was til now :)

The food at this hotel was outstanding, not bad price either (€36 for 3 courses), it was jam packed on Saturday night which isn't bad going for the weekend straight after NY. We don't usually eat out when we go over as we have chef's in the family that usually knock up something nice, or we just drink lots of tea and eat lots of sandwiches ;)
We tend to do half and half eating in and eating out. Eating in involves too much meat for me. Fry up every morning. Everything over cooked.

I start craving veg and salad quite quickly. The landlady of their local overheard me telling Ginge that I really needed some veg...so she knocked me up a nice dinner to take home.
I think bacon has been re-classified as a vegetable in Mayo ...
Lol...they do like their bacon alright.

I always crave veg about 2 days in, we got back last night so I'm doing a roast for dinner, cauli, broccoli, peas, carrots and brussels. If I see another bit of bacon or sausage.....
Question Author
Why don't they eat lots of veg?
///I could only think of Thomas O'Beckett! :+)///
sandy will be thrilled
Really disappointed with the selection of veg you get.
Old habits I suppose, Rocky......I can't recall seeing anything other than potatoes and cabbage growing up.....
We certainly couldn't have grown anything having been hounded into the rocky wilds......no shops nearby......no long term storing of food....

I think we mostly ate whatever had been laid or running around the land....x
One thing I was really surprised at. We went for a family birthday meal and we were served frozen roast potatoes (obviously cooked) The land of the spud serving Aunt Bessies!!
Question Author
Haha, frozen roasties.

Do you eat veg Gness? My OH loves it but I don't think he was reared on too much.

The meal we had came with some veg in a couple of bowls on the table, really not enough for 12 people but there was some left, me and Mr had loads though.
I love my veg and salad.

My daughters paternal family grow all their own. So much nicer when they are freshly dug up.
I can't get in to Gravatar to change back to Beckett. I'm stuck with this stone horse.
Dublin is expensive. Two glasses of ordinary wine in a hotel bar in O'Connell St cost more than €20
I do love and eat lots of veg, Rocky....cooked well or in salad.....that happened after I left home and discovered that cabbage needn't be pale green and sloppy and slither around on the plate in a pool of water....☺

It did make me giggle Sandy, seeing your 'face' on the wall of the restaurant.

I think us Brits presume that the Irish comsume shed loads of veg along with their tatties. I can't wait for some green stuff later.
Question Author
Haha, that's the face.
