Installing A New Font Into Windows 8

Using windows 8 and word 2013. I have just purchased a new font. This is sitting fair and square in the fonts file so I expect it to be available in the drop-down menu on the home page. But it isn't there. How can I get to use it?

Are you sure that the file in your fonts folder has the .ttf file extension? Many downloaded fonts come in zip format. (i.e. instead of newfont.ttf you might have put newfont.zip into your fonts folder). You need to double click on the .zip file to extract the .ttf one before you can use it.
