Painful Ear

not earache as such,its not my ear drum,its the outer ear,i have a huge lump which has blocked my ear,agonising to touch,had this for 5 day and getting worse,what can this thing be,have been taking painkillers.

Is the "lump" in the ear canal OR is it "away" from the ear canal?

When you eat or talk and particularly when you pull you lower ear lobe, is the pain much worse?

in the ear canal,agony when I touch it or press underneath my ear,or pull it.

It is a furuncle (boil in the ear)....bl0.dy painful condition.

They usually clear up with just painkillers, but if it is getting worse, then it may need draining, a dressing inserted and perhaps antibiotics.

My advice is to go to Casualty in a hospital where there is an ENT dept and they will ask the ENT "bod" to see you.

I am just waiting on my son coming up and then i'll phone the drs. surgery as we have same day appointments.I have been up all night ,cant sleep on my right side,its still throbbing and I have real strong painkillers(codeine 15mgs/500mg tabets)been taking them 4 hrly.

right,seen dr.got eardrops.it was otitus something caused by diabetes,the lump has burst today and its been bleeding and pusy but the pain is going away.i need to watch my diet.???

I feel really good today.went for a haircut and the library and then made cream of celery soup.
