Just heard that police were called to one of our local high schools after a pupil assaulted the head teacher. We wouldn't have dared speak to ours never mind assault him.
When I was at school in the late 60s , must have been about 14, there was onepupil who was particulaly disruptive and one day she told the teacher to *** off, the whole class just took a deep breath all at once, she got sent to the head, I often wonder what happened to her.
My last head teacher was a man by the name of Ansell Savage. I still get bad dreams about that person and I am in my mid sixties. Evil man. When you saw him coming down the corridor you dived into the nearest room to avoid him.
I was summonsed to the head master's office at my grammar school I was so scared I wet myself as I did not know what I had done, it turned out I had won a handwriting competition in a National Children's Newspaper, the relief I felt to know that I was not going to be caned cannot be described !
Did you see 'excluded, kicked out of school' Bbc3 on Tuesday (9.00) it's a series. Absolutely unbelievable behaviour by the kids. My son is a teacher and I hate to think of him having to deal with this sort of thing. Having said that this is a 'last chance' school so presumably the teachers are specially trained. Both my and Oh said 'we would never have got away with that' I got my one and only detention at school for going the wrong way down a one way corridor !
I was assaulted several times in my teaching career. I think most of us now accept it as part of the job. I was shocked. 1st was a big 5th-former who, when told to sit down in his seat, shoved his chair backwards into my shins (it didn't half hurt). Then there was the idiot lad who pinched my bottom when I was bending down to help his neighbour with his work. Nothing terribly serious physically - a lot serious with attitude.
A collegue, delegated to run a library session during a 'free', was dragged around the library by resentful lads who wanted to leave school - her knees were badly burned.
It's a bit different to when I was at school! :)
