Shaving Cut

Just cut myself shaving.
I have cut myself shaving. The cut is on my upper lip (philtrum?) That was 40 mins ago and its still bleeding. Cant stop it, beginning to resemble a male version of Carrie. Any longer and I will have either soaked up (with tissues) my lips or swallowed them completly....
Im bleeding to death from the lip.....
help.

Direct pressure is good first aid for all cuts, best to do it before you die!!!

Have you tried pressing an ice cube against it? Whatever you use apply very firm pressure for as long as it takes.

a good douse of after shave/perfume ? will sting like hell though

Thanks guys for replies, still bleeding, tried pressure, (hot and cold) and other remidies suggested. But still bleeding from top lip. Thought it might have subsided b4 now.

Was the cut a vertical cut downwards through the philtrum or did you scape across the surface?

here nailit..a big wet sloppy smacker ...mwaaaaaahhh ! there that's stopped it ! lol.. hope it stops soon ..try the aftershave thing ...i always slather a cut with perfume to staunch the blood..does sting though..

Sorry, I didn`t explain myself very well. Do you have a cut into the philtrum?

237, seems to have been just below the philtrum, on the lip. Seems to have stopped now ( Thank God, must have been through at least 2 kitchen rolls. Thought I was bleeding to death...never realised how much blood someone could loose and still remain conscious)...
Might grow a beard from now on.........

If it isn't deep enough for stitches then mild pressure will eventually work. You are probably either not leaving it there long enough or reopening it when you remove whatever you are covering it with, and needing to retry.

Put a plaster on it and don't talk for at least an hour otherwise you will be saying, 'Bye, lib burts!'

Thank goodness for Philips electric razors, I say...never have used anything else, never have cut myself shaving.

nailit - get some wound closure strips. They are always useful to have in your home first aid kit.
