Router Wireless Settings
7 Answers
My woman has been having issues with her router, with it frequently & suddenly not working and in need of a power cycle. So she has just bought a Netgear DGND3700 N600, and I've been roped in to sort it for her whilst I'm here.
Most went ok apart from an inexplicable decision for the screen to not do anything on pressing 'next' if one selects to enter the settings oneself; necessitating changing one's mind and allowing the "Genie" to do the donkey work. Should have been a sign for things to come I suppose.
The result was a connection to the Internet ok, but labels / passphrases not being as desired.
I was hoping to try to set things to be the same as the router it replaces, in the hope that anything using the wireless connection may not need changing. Probably a forlorn hope but I was going to give it a try.
But in the event the wireless control screen has a strange habit. I change the fields I wish to change, press "apply" and it opts to remove all my changes and put it back as it was. Such an amusing trick to play, I can hardly hold my sides in for laughing.
I've not had this setting a wireless network name or phrase before. Has anyone any idea on why it continually frustrates in this way ?
Thanks in advance.

Saw your answer, mutter something about it being unlikely, under my breath, tried it. Blooming 'eck !!!!! It worked !
Thank you very much. I am starting to think this tech is getting to me in my old age. Any excuse it can find to go wrong.
Great, cheers. (And it logged on as if it was the previous router. )
