B&q & Wickes Bathroom Installation Service

I am looking into getting either B&Q or Wickes to do a full bathroom install using their installation service. I am just wondering if anyone has any experience of the installation service from either company?

If so how was it?

I think B&Q etc just contract them out to local fitters.

You are best going direct to a local fitter yourself who has a reputation to keep up.

Interestingly I was in B&Q recently and listening to a customer complaining they are still having issues with supplying faulty goods.

Not had experience of a bathroom fitting but I did get Homebase to fit my kitchen worktops. They simply used an external firm to do the job. I guess you get to deal with a big name. Depends on whether that is worth something to you.

Years ago for my first bathroom re-fit I asked about the cost of using B&Q fitters, I thought it was expensive and so asked around. B&Q fitters were almost double, and in one case more than double, the others I asked. I would suggest asking friends and neighbours for a recommendations. Unless you're rich. x

I agree with the others, Hett. Same fitters, but with B&Q's cut added. I've never heard of any of these Companies having their own workmen.

Bought my kitchen from B&Q but had my own fitters. I was very happy with the result.

A friend of mine ordered their new bathroom from Wickes. They are pleased with the result BUT they had some sort of blockage (slow water outlet) in the hand basin after a couple of weeks. They unscrewed the Ubend piece to discover a lump of grouting (they had the bathroom fully tiled too) which presumably the fitter had "washed" down the sink. Not good!
