I'd be interested in this as I have a 2000 model.

I think Ford recommend 10 years or 100,000 miles for the belt but 5 years or 60,000 for the tensioner and rollers, which doesn't make sense. I have asked several garages and Ford specialists and most of them say 5 years or 60,000 miles whichever comes first. Cost ? I've been quoted prices from 160 - 225 (Not main dealers). I hope we hear from a Ford expert who can put us right on all this.

the belt should in theory last the 100,000 but there are so many factors that can influence this... best policy is if in doubt, do it. the cost seems steep but if the belt breaks it's far more than that. best practice is now to change any belt tensioners/idler pulleys at the same time as the belt. for a definitive answer as regards the actual interval try www.fordmondeo.org

As there are two of you who don't have any idea look at this...........

sorry, link does not work!
The offical time is 10 Yrs or 100 000 miles. Tensioners should always be replaced at the same time as the belt. You are right Derekpara there is no sense in setting a replacement for the tensioners different to the belt. Some garages may say a shorter replacement interval just to be safe.
