computer crash

anyone help please, my computer has crashed with error notice

\windows\system 32\config\system

i cannot re-install because the cd-rom will not read

any suggestions please

If your computer has crashed, just restart it. If it won't respond at all, save what you can and manually reset it by turning it off.

not sure how this would work if you cant run the discs - another google search suggested unplugging usb cables/ printers etc.
