Option 1) Being alive with a dodgy ticker living out my days with some OAPS struggling to take me walkies.
Option 2) Being in doggy heaven, rejuvenated with loads of hot young randy poodles and tasty young Yorkshire terrier butts to sniff.
You did the right thing honey. Bless your heart.
I had to have my dog put to sleep, due to cancer, five years ago, I felt awful afterwards. I missed him so much.
After a month, on the rebound, I got a cat. I was kept busy trying to catch (and strangle) the little b*s**rd as he destroyed my house and drove me nuts.
I still miss my dog - but I after a while you realise that you did what had to be done. You did it because you loved the animal. And as Ward-Minter says - pussycat and doggy heaven is a great place. Just a thought though - do they get their balls back when they get to the pearly gates?
LMAO - that was a great question Wolf-63 ...
As to your problem Josy - you shouldn't feel guilty. Ending our pet's pain and suffering in a humane way is the last and greatest act of kindness we can give them. I'm not saying not to miss him. God knows the loss is going to hurt for a long time. But you did the right thing by him.
For example ... down the street from me is an old Lab named Max. It is obvious that he is in terrible pain with every move he makes. And he's is so terribly emaciated that you can see every bone in his body. But they won't put him down. It absolutely breaks my heart for him because he's suffering so much and there's nothing I can do about it. I can't understand why people allow their pets to suffer when they can make the humane choice.
Give yourself time to grieve ...
