Ear plugs
My neighbour has just informed me she is buying a drum kit, does anyone know where i can buy a big box of earplugs

Buying them at Boots or whatever ends up very expensive if you want a lot. Go to an industrial safety supplies company. You'll get a big box of them for far less (each) than anywhere on the High Street. They will probably also have a choice of different quality and sound reduction, as well. Or there's loads of similar companies on the web.

Cheaper than a standard kit, and less noise!
I have a drum kit my parents bought me it for xmas when i was 17, i put it up in my bedroom, we informed the neighbours and they were ok but obviously asked me to keep it down, no problem. I put a towel on the bass drum to muffel the sound and you dont have to hit the drums really hard to get the noise out of them. I didnt get any complaints
Chances are she is just using it to practice in the house so wont be banging the hell out of it she'l just be learning the basics.
Let her know that you are fine about it but could she try respect her neighbours. im sure she will make some effort to keep the noise down.
