This morning my wife answered the telephone and I heard her say to the caller, " Speak to my husband he understands things about Computers ."

Taking the call, I was informed ( by a male person with a strong sounding Indian accent) " I am Wayne and I am speaking to you from Windows Technical Section about a fault which you have on your Computer Equipment." However, he immediately terminated the call when I said "Are you able to give me an indication of which Computer is involved."

My wife knew it was a Scam Call and passed it to me because I can enjoy playing along a Scammer. Perhaps, I should have said something different.!!??

This is the Mumbai Hospital here - Wayne has been taken into the Psychiatric unit here, suffering from major depression as he has been wound up by so many of you. Please have sympathy for him and his family of sixteen children.

@mikey4444....I wanted to string him along but he disconnected too soon.

Incidentally, I know I am now digressing from subject matter. However, as you worked for BT, do you think that I am being misled by being told that the pattern of my Broadband cutting out each evening is a fault on my internal wiring.

Hans.
Yes
After purchasing the BT Blocker phone a few weeks ago, no Lucky Lucky calls folks.
Is it the same time every night? If so check for anything that switches on/off around the same time.

When we had problems the fourth BT chap managed to fix ours, but also told us that at one call he'd been to where broadband was slowing everyday at the same time was caused by kids coming home from school and swirching on a plasma tv. In a house at least half a mile away from the house with the problem!

@Tuvok.......It does, very very occasionally, happen in the daytime but there is no real pattern then. However, when it comes to the evening, anytime between 6 and 10pm it will cease completely and return to normal after midnight. Hence the reason I cannot accept that my house internal wiring is at fault. ( Normal is 14.3 download to main incoming socket and, with three telephone outlets, 12.4 at Computer.)

@methyl.......Modem is BT No3 Hub. 3 lights when it is working ( Power-on, Broadband-on and Wireless-on) However the three lights remain On when there is a complete loss of Broadband. The telephone works at all times. I Do Not have an Answer Phone and the three telephones are 'hard wired' in outlet sockets.( No wireless links)

So is Wayne a now a Windows nutcase then if he has been sectioned to hospital?
Hans......I had typed a long answer to you about my similar problem....you are being misled by BT....but my internet crashed again before I could post.....

My landline is so crackly I can't use it....every evening now the internet is crashing...

All blasted evening I have been trying to sort this but when the numpty from BT said he couldn't hear the problem with my landline... I screamed!!! I was on my *** mobile to him because the flaming land line wouldn't work!
Of course he couldn't hear it....!
....and I thought that Peter Pedant was a man! Well, well, well.
Hans have a look in the event log of the hub. There'll be stuff that wont mean anything to you, but you might spot something useful.

My apologies to all for my failure to reply to posts which have been made during the past few hours. Guess what...Yes my Broadband failed again as I felt sure it would at some stage during the evening. It's now back at it's regular speeds of 12.4 down and 0.96 up.

I really think that BT is playing games and has been for some months. I reported the matter at the start of March and after at least 10 people had telephoned me from the Indian Call Centre (level 1 & 2) it was arranged for an 'Engineer' to visit me last Friday; but that was because I had e/mailed the CEO of BT.( [email protected] ) A chap from Openreach then called and tested my incoming Telephone line and declared that there was packet loss between the main socket and my Computer which is 'hard wired' to the Router. I told him that that was to be expected but didn't mean that my internal wiring needed to be replaced, when there was a definite pattern of Broadband loss each evening and that he was testing the incoming signal during the day when the line from the Telephone Exchange was free from any possible Capping.

Anyway, I am now off to bed knowing that, unless something unusual happens, I'll have good Broadband speeds until tomorrow evening.

Perhaps I should open a thread on the matter in the Technology section of AB.
