Congestion Charge?
19 Answers
I had to drive through London earlier and I'm not sure if I strayed into the congestion charge zone despite setting my satnav to avoid it.
Is there any way of finding out by typing my reg number in somewhere?
Any advice gratefully received.
Merry xmas!

the congestion zone is inoperative from the 25th to the 1st inclusive, meaning it was in operation yesterday.
Black "C"s on a white circular background are found on roads that will lead you to the congestion zone - such as on right turn lanes, and such. A white "C" on a red background represents a gateway to the zone itself.
provided you didn't cross a white C on a red background, you've avoided the zone.

Streetmap (on a large scaale) shows the Congestion Zone boundary. Here http:// www.str eetmap. co.uk/n ewmap.s rf?x=58 9600&am p;y=185 100& ;z=0&am p;sv=58 9600,18 5100&am p;st=OS Grid&am p;lu=N& amp;tl= ~&a r=y& ;bi=~&a mp;mapp =newmap .srf&am p;searc hp=news earch.s rf it is the light orange line along Goswell Road, Pentonville Road, Penton Rise etc.
So trace your journey on the map to see whether you entered the zone.

Aagh! thanks for the effort Jonathan, but I was following my TomTom and it hiccuped a few times. I did find myself going over Tower Bridge at one point, so I thought I was doomed, but I looked at the map and it seems to be on the edge of the boundary.
I think it's all down to whether did or didn't stray and if I was spotted by any cameras and London is bristling with the b@stards. I guess I'll find out in a few days.

Thanks Methyl.
I drove through London (SW to NE) on xmas eve, I would have entered London by around 3pm and come back the other way exiting by about 5pm, so presumably this *would* have been during congestion charge hours.
I set my TomTom to "avoid congestion charge zones" but think I may have strayed in a couple of times when the bl00dy thing crapped out on me due to loss of signal - I can't be sure because it's London and I was concentrating on thew whole melee of it all. I think I'm just going to have to wait and see.
