I would suggest that this mdium would be difficult to assimilate with our Western experience.
Bollywood films follow a very styalised format that would look very unusual to us - the body language, costumes, music, plot lines and unspoken cultural boundaries would all be a complete mystery, making any attempt at following the plot and story virtually impossible.
On that basis, one would looke exactly like another, and without at least a basic understanding of the style, it would be difficult to judge the merits of one over another, so little would be gained by watching what is perceived as a successful and popular movie, over one which was considered poor and uninteresting.
I watched a friend's child dancing with The Birmingham Ballet once, and half-way through the performance, I realised i had no cultural reference points what ever to guide me as to whether what i was watching was a breath-taking spectacle, or a load of pretentious tripe!
I refered to my friend's child's teacher who was sitting next to me, who confirmed that it was indeed seriously good - which I was glad to hear.
