A family member expressed surprise that I addressed my in-laws by name and didn't call them Mother/Father, Mum/Dad or whatever.

I personally find it a little odd to refer to my husbands parents in this way and have always been bemused when I have encountered on TV or in real life.

Do many of you call your in-laws Mum or am I the odd one out?

no f-i-l but i call hte m-i-l by her given name
My husband's name is Bill so I called them Mummy Bill and Daddy Bill, they loved it!!
My father called my maternal grandparents Mum and Dad. I think he did that because my paternal grandfather died in the Second World War when my father was a baby. I've never known anyone else that called their in-laws Mum and Dad, though.
Always first names but I thought Mum and Dad was often used for in-laws too. For some reason, probably erroneously, I thought it was more of a northern thing.
First names. They weren't my parents so why would I call them by parent titles?
Can't remember that I called my inlaws by any particular name, certainly not mum and dad.
I always called my mother in law Mrs Axxxx and she never asked me to call her by her first name. When she developed dementia I was a bit startled to find head social worker kept referring to her as mum.... !
I never knew my father in law and I don't think the swear filter would allow me to post what I call my mother in law and my husbands sister.
I always called my in-laws Mum and Dad, I would use their first names if I was talking about them.
By their names.

Because my dad is dead, and my mum and I have a very strained relationship, if I occasionally speak about Mum and Dad to my wife, she knows I mean her parents.
long ago now, but I called them Mr and Mrs. Not mum or dad, though, I had my own.
