need to get some new suitcases thinking maybe get samsunite? trouble is the way your cases get thrown around at airport should i go for cheaper ones instead dont know what to do!

i bought three Tripp ones in Debenhams, white with bright fuschis huge flowers, they are really tough and easy to spot on the carousel! They have one in now that is white with a huge red cross on it just in time for the world cup! The cases are about 70 and 90 quid and the little matching carry on one was about 35 i think.

I used to work at the airport (although not loading the planes) and was told by one of the guys who did, not to get samsonsite ones, as although they look stronger apparently they aren't, you can crack them - and they used to have competitions to see who could break them apparently. Plus, I think I'm right in saying that the samsonite ones weigh more than normal ones?

I've never had one though, so may be one of those urban myths! Personally I have a mid-price soft one, which means if the zip goes (must be cos I pack too much stuff!!), its not too pricey to replace. My current one has lasted a few years now though, and I think it cost me about �40.

I brought a samsonite suitcase two years ago and has lasted three holidays without damage. It is a moulded shaped soft one with four wheels...and its great!...it can twist and turn in and out of the airport crowds very easily and is the best suitcase i've had so far. It glides along so easily you hardly have to push/pull it. It also came with a free large holdall.

Ive had cheap ones before and after being used once, they've broke in some way or another.

if its any help - airline crews mostly use Delsey - a bit expensive but will last many years with normal use
