norton anti-virus
10 Answers
I am cheap and have Norton 2005. The latest updates however seem to completely monopolize my system slowing every process to a crawl, countless incidents of norton is waiting for a virus scan of this , that, or whatever renders my computer almost useless. seriously fed up. I've downloaded avg from grisoft but not installed it yet.Is this a better way to go?

I open my browser and up pops the message, norton is waiting for a virus scan of whatever, close my browser the same thing happens again.open a web page and norton kicks in with the same message, open any on-line file and norton interrupts and slows everything to a point were I just pull the fcuknig plug.
All the spyware things do pretty much the same thing. I've just always used Adaware and never had any problems, so recommend it. I'm sure others are just as good though.
As for Zonealarm. Well yes it is good, I used to use it all the time. But it's very slow (I found) when starting up when you first start windows. Kerio is much faster and works just as well. It also uses less memory when it's running, and can allow for more advanced setups (at least, it's easier to find the advanced bits I think).
