crossed wires?

Have you ever gotten your wires crossed with very funny results? When my daughter was about 7 or 8 years old she came home from school and asked me what a period was. I did my best to answer her question, though I was not quite sure if she was understanding any of it! When I'd finished explaining I asked why she'd wanted to know and she then told me that they had been learning about the Queen Victoria period at school. Doh!!!!!

When I was about your daughter's age, there was a promotion in my comic where you sent off for some sort of gift. I can't remember what the item was but there must have been different versions for boys and girls because the application form had a space labelled 'Sex'. Never having seen the word before, I innocently asked my mother what 'sex' meant. She was well into some sort of fumbled explanation (which was totally incomprehensible to me) before she thought to ask where I'd come across the word! :-)
