We, who have been on AB a while now, are fully aware of your feelings about the Lawrence family, but it would be wise not to allow your enmity cloud your reasoning.
Lee Rigby has a memorial in his mother's home town, because that's where he grew up. When I read that a memorial had been established in Lyn Rigby's hometown, my immediate assumption was that this was where Lee grew up.
It is.
However, I agree that a memorial should be created in Woolwich. And yes there is every chance that vandals may attack it, as they have down with the Stephen Lawrence memorial (it's now been attacked twice). It's sad that we have to even consider the probability of vandalism, but it happens. Putting up a CCTV camera to monitor the memorial will offer it some degree of protection.

however the victim was a fella from the small village of Bradpole near a larger small town of Bridport.

As most ABers do not know who Gordon Hamilton-Farley was it would of been helpful to provide a link.
I happen to know who he was as I attended the scene immediately after the 1st bomb killed him (crewing a bomb incident Land Rover call sign Bravo 22)
I lost 50% of my hearing when the 2nd "come on"bomb exploded .That, I don't think was, reported at the time.
A particularly nasty "come on" device this one was. It was planted in a GPO Post Box near to where we were parked. Those cast iron shards make a lovely mess of human flesh when they meet at warp factor 5.Fortunately no other emergency service personal were injured by this secondary and my colleague and I were fortunate to escape with ruptured ear drums.
I am well acquainted with the Camden Sq bomb,Waltons Bomb,Harrods Bomb (attended Jane Arbuthnott's funeral in Windsor) Dorchester Hotel Bomb and Wimpy Bar Oxford St Bomb where a brave former army Bomb disposal officer was killed by a booby trap
