It's like everything in the UK - we are always playing catch up. The UK is an outdated country living in the past and needs dragged in the 21st Century.
I always feel that there are many other countries around the world doing things better and more efficiently than us and this won't change in my life time.

Services were slashed drastically under British Rail too- Beeching and all that
