It is - February 12 - and it's The Year Of The Horse. The Chinese New Year is based on a combination of solar and lunar movements, so it falls on a different day each year. The full works is a 15-day affair, with family feasts and so on - a lot of Chinese travel to spend time with their families, so a number of restaurants and take-aways are closed for a day or two to allow for celebrations.
It's also called Ren-Wu.
