What are they doing?
Hello all,
I noticed that to of my fish are chasing another but they dont seem to be harming him/her .I have noticed though that the one being chased is rather fat could it be pregnant and if so why are they chasing it

What fish are you talking about ? Most fish require more than one male per female. Goldfish can often have 6 or 7 males chasing a poor female.
The reason for this is they are trying to drive her into a weedy or shallow area where she will then release her eggs and the males will battle to fertilize them.....and try to spread his genes as much as possible.
Females can get absolutely exhausted by the constant attention of the males and may take time to recover.....spawning can last several days and can occur on five or six occasions throughout the spring and summer.
