Just opened a bottle of Hardy's Legacy Shiraz-Cabernet 2014, from Tesco. It's horrible!

I hate wine with a screw cap, you cannot beat a bottle of wine with a cork. I have found some very good wines at, believe it or not, Lidls! I am halfway thru a lovely bottle of Cotes du Rhone 2014, it was about a fiver and it has a cork!!

Tried that.

Dunno what to suggest then, Daisy.
//it was about a fiver and it has a cork!!// - and a plastic bottle?
Perhaps saintpeter would explain what makes real cork superior?
I have a nice, cheeky Sainsburys house red on the go....nice with a curry.
Some superb Californians in screwtops like Plumbush, also Riojas, and now French Burgundies and Beaujolais wines; that corks are better - it's a fallacy.
I agree DT
sorry Plumpjack was what I was thinking of, one of the first v-yards to use screwtops and a delish wine....

But now they also have plastic corks as well as cork corks; just as the have plastic glasses as well as glass glasses. On that note, I'm off to have some wobbly-pops from a glass glass decanted from a glass jug...Cheers.

we were offering collapsible wine glasses as picnic give-aways back in the 80s....bloody great invention! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Paladone-Pocket-Plonk-Pop-Up-Glass/dp/B008XK6Z6M
I clicked on that link, DTC, and it said "Sorry, this seller does not deliver to Canada". I'm quite distraught about that:)
try googling Plumpjack from your end, stuey.....
Groth, Opus One (and other Mondavi), O'Shaughnessy and Swanson all on the same road, makes for a good crawl.....
''Perhaps saintpeter would explain what makes real cork superior?''
DTCwordfan and gingejbee, this is my thinking ..... After a little research I came to the conclusion that screwcap wine contains a lot of additives and preservatives, i'm not too happy with that, i much prefer the traditional method, which has been the way of wine making for years, a bottle with a cork, simple as!!! Do your own research .... to me the wine at Lidls is as good value as it gets. :)

Apologies for not keeping up with my own thread, I was sidetracked by a visitor.
The first sip seemed OK, but was followed by a sour, musty aftertaste. Italian red from now on!
