Desktop Display (Wallpaper) Has Shrunk....

Help please. I will state at the start that I am clueless re technical terms, so please bear with me and I will try to describe the problem in the best way I know how.

My screen with the icons down the left, + wallpaper on..(Viggo Mortensen, extremely attractive), has shrunk...there are black margins a couple of inches wide to either side of him.

HP 15-g 094sa laptop (purple)
Windows 8.1
Google Chrome

I'm sure I've missed out some vital info, but no doubt one of the lovely (as most of you are) techy guys ( and gals) will ask me for any details I've omitted.

2. Desktop, click Stretch
3. Apply

Your image should fill screen.

thanks so much everyone. I've no idea what I did, but I think I right clicked on one of pics in My Pictures, + chose fit to screen", I think....and blimey!! I can see his pores, fgs!! Am off to try same with Mark Ruffalo now ;)
