You can't just get a trip exactly when you want it. Ok if you can be flexible and book in advance.

I'm sure some would find it useful. Many prefer their own company rather than have a stranger with them. As for public transport. Well yes I can see a possible hit but I don't think it will be great. Being in a crowd of folk you don't know, or stuck with one stranger. I suspect many will continue just as they do at present.
