I Wonder If Anyone Can Help To Give My Daughter Some Advice...........
My daughter has recently split from her husband and has taken him off the cars insurance. Because he has 2 drink driver convictions and now he has another conviction althought NOT car related he is having trouble to get a car insure that isnt sky high.? Up until now my daughter has been the main driver and he was on as a named driver....
The husband is living with parents at the moment and we have told him to get his dad to insure him as his named driver. But he says he cannot do that?

As has been stated above, if the husband gets himself added as an additional driver on any other person's policy (where he is actually the main driver of the vehicle himself) both he and the other person will be guilty of 'fraud by false representation' under Section 2 of the Fraud Act 2006, which could result in them both being sent to prison.
All he can do is to keep seeking quotes from specialist firms. MCE Insurance is a broker that claims to specialise in helping people with motoring convictions, so it might be worth giving them a try:

(b) arranging lifts with someone who works the same shifts as him ; or

as others have said, your daughter would be complicit in a fraudulent act ..if he turns nasty he might report this in order to seek revenge..so stay clear...many fathers in the same position manage without a car..and I would not want my kids in a potentially dangerous situation with one with such a history of driving UTI !
Once again Thankyou for your replies. I have sent all this info to my daughter who has passed it onto her husband..My daughter does not want the children in the car with him if he has been drinking.. Although he denies it.! when he was banned he lived wwit my daughters so could cycle to work. Sorry I do not remember when his last drink driving was. But have read it stays for five years. I just wish he would crawl in a hole! but for the children it is so hard. oh dear how can he put his gambling and drinking before his children? It just baffles me.!

With 2 drink drive convictions he has to accept the fact that unless he is going to pay a fortune he will have to live without being a driver. It is intended to be a punishment!

Thankyou Mama, ...we agree she mustnt go back now not after all these years of doing so..I must admit she is so more stronger now then she has ever been.
She says she is very lonely some days as the children are off our playing with there freinds and she has noone to talk too but hope she will get used to that soon. We do have her with us or go out with her but I do not want her to be dependent on us all the time..not being nasty but would like her to meet new people and get out more. After all she will not always have us to support her,, although being 65 and 67 we do not intend on going anywhere just yet you never know what tomorrow will bring. xx

lilac..I am pleased tohear that she is not being drawn into the insurance mess....encourage her to get out and about ..join some keep fit classes or similar..even taking kids to park etc she will soon get talking to other mums...maybe offer to help out with after school clubs etc...I wish her all the best luck in the world xx
