to find the the culprit or are they likely to "set up" someone just to make themselves look good? I don't know a lot about Thai's, not sure how trustworthy they are.

It wouldn't stop me from going.

Lol ummmm, I agree, I would love to go there.
Why do you think they wouldn't want to catch the real culprit?
Hmm.
Of course, such a travesty of justice could never happen here.......could it?
Probably just as trustworthy as the British IMO.
Thailand has never appealed to me. Seems to be a magnet for dirty old men around our way. Quite a few over 60's in our village have ditched their wives and bought holiday homes in Thailand that they have looked after by very young women. Can Japan be trusted lol! we are going there in October.
It's a lovely country, Ratter. I met so many beautiful people.
They are all 'beautiful' when you are giving them money as a tourist. I've met Thai women over here and as soon as they hit UK soil and get their family over they turn sour.

I think they will do all they can to find the culprits, but failing that I suspect they may just fit someone up for it. I may be wrong! I'm not sure that their police investigation services etc. are not very advanced
i went there over 20 years ago. quite liked the north, but didnt like seedy Bangkok, enjoyed one of the islands, think it was called koh samui. but i wouldn´t be in a rush to return.
You will love Japan Retro. But please don't only follow the tourist routes.
It is a lovely country, their 'revolutions' tend to be benign affairs, two taking place whilst I was there and didn't really notice any changes. As to Japan, watch the Yakuza....

Sophia Lauren's 'Lost in Translation' really captured the night-light there in Tokyo, the feel of something simmering underneath the superficial 'order', retro, hopefully you will get out into the countryside, that is beautiful from the little that I have seen..... Bloody expensive by the way!
Have you been Retro?

My aunt lives there 6 months of the year and has made lots of Thai friends. My mate lives there full time with his Thai wife and she has no interest in coming to England.

Ratter...If they find the culprits then they'll be dealt with. It's not softly softly...
Regarding Japan being expensive, if you stick to the local restaurants, and don't go and eat Kobe beef, you will not find it expensive. Don't eat Sushi at night, eat it for lunch, the price goes up a lot at night. Buy your train tickets etc. before you go on-line, if you are planning a lot of traveling, you can get really good deals including the Shinkansen. My son and g/f went in April for two weeks and came back with money. They stayed in some great Ryokan for 50-60 euros a night. As always, just watch the tourist traps and do plenty of research beforehand.
Taxis cost the earth though, I have to say, especially at night.
A rather odd question built on some unfounded suspicion....

Echo Naomi's comment.

The CCTV footage obtained is a handy and quick start, should be less problematic than it was to obtain the names of the Boston bombers.
